Mis Hoemies

For the second year, only some of us got to stay in the residential college. Aida didn’t get to stay in college and decided to rent a house with some other mates of ours. Meanwhile, Hanisah who used to be Hafizah’s roommate, asked to be my roommate for the second year so I went, “you heard about me right? You know I’m kinda (too) messy right?” She went, “Oh it’s okay, I’m kinda messy too hahaha.” “But of course I will tidy things up when I feel like doing so.” So we became roommates throughout the fourth semester and in the fifth semester, Shahirah joined us.

I love just how easily Hanisah and I clicked! She’s loving and amusing and not to mention, she’s got the brains too! Like no matter how much she gets anxious over her studies, she always manages to get her flying-colour results. Her family and studies are her biggest priority. There was this one time back in fourth semester, I was really late for class so I rushed and didn’t get to make up my bed. Came back to our room to see my bed has already been made. I was really moved, so sweet of her!

Everyone calls her Nisa but there was also another Nisa, short for Khairunnisa. So I decided to go for Nish Nish instead, to differentiate them and avoid confusion. Really thought it was not going to work but surprisingly, the name is still stuck in my head up til now and I'm not even trying anymore. Nish Nish has always given me positive vibes, constructive advice
and moral-boosting comments.

On the other hand, Shahirah is a bit harsher and ALWAYS gets on my nerves… If there is one person that I would give "The Most Annoying Friend" award to, it's her, definitely. She pisses me off, almost 24/7. Yelling at each other have been our thing. She often nags at me for being too messy, asking me to neaten my stuff.. But since everyone knows I am such a hot mess and ace at procrastinating,... most of the time, Shahirah, or Saer, as we like to call her, always ends up tidying up my stuff (while blabbering, of course).

I remember that one time when I was clearing my table (after being told by Saer obviously) got clumsy, and somehow pulled out the plastic bag that had my favourite gold peel-off nail paint at the edge of the table, and bam, the thing fell and broke... and so did I. Mind you, I only used it ONCE. Whilst choking, I picked up the shattered pieces and went to the washroom. Upon seeing me like that, Saer instantly asked for my kain buruk and told me to let her do the cleaning. She said she felt guilty for pushing me to tidy things up only to make things end up even uglier. It was clearly my fault, I wonder why she even felt that way haha but that's really sweet.

Apart from being undeniably annoying, Saer actually has a pure heart. She thinks of others, does a thing or two for them but quite a number of things for me as her roommate back then. Like if we go to the mall and it's obvious that I'm already tired she'd carry my bag. She is almost as flexible as I am, she is transparent, as in you never have to feel embarrassed to talk about the most sensitive things.. You know you can count on her to listen though she (and Nish Nish) ALWAYS act like they couldn't care less.

I can't express how blessed I was to have had them as my roommates.
