The Biggest Question Mark
It was blurry. Everything was black and white. I was on a bed, a bed with wheels. I just know, because it was moving, it was being pushed.. It seemed like I was in an old hospital. Saw an entity ahead and out of the blue, my limbs from arms to feet, were getting electric sensations. I woke up to it. So I thought, that's what you get for sleeping on a Saturday, at dusk, in Ramadhan.
On Monday, or maybe I should say Tuesday because it was already midnight, I was anxious, trying to get my homework done. It was around 2 am when I finally decided to hit the sack. I normally would switch off the lights before going to bed. Sometimes I would leave only one light on. However, on that night, unlike any other nights, I just felt like leaving both the lights on.
I lay on the left side, facing the yellow wall. I was asleep.. Well, at least that's what I thought. I tried to roll over to the right but I couldn't move. I panicked. I tried and tried but failed. It was very confusing because I could see. I could see the wall, everything on my left side. So I recited the Ayat Kursi and only for the fourth time that I woke up bolted upright in bed and saw a glimpse of shadow of a hand with pointy fingers on the wall right next to the door. I was terrified and started shivering terribly.
It was 3 am and I didn't know what to do. After losing contact for a while, I lowered down my ego and called Afiq up. Fortunately, he was awake. I started sobbing so he asked me to take the ablution. Then we kept on talking til suhoor. After suhoor, I approached my dad who dozed off on the massage chair in front of the telly. I sat on the floor next to the chair and woke him up. I said "ina kena kacau.." and burst into tears. My dad asked, "siapa kacau?" and quickly turned off the telly and sat on the floor with me. I reckoned it was a genie. Wallahu'alam.
Performed the subuh prayer in my mum's room. Ma didn't take this seriously and even asked me to go to school but Dad said I should stay home and rest. I was catching a fever. So I slept in my mum's room. Dad went to work. Ma went to send my younger siblings to school. I awoke at around 9 and saw an entity of a boy in white lingering in my brother's bedroom. Confused, I put myself back into slumber.
After waking up for good, I went into my brother's room to check things out. Well, obviously. There was no one. Qudin was already in school when I saw the boy. Plus, Qudin was buffer than the boy I saw. Ma said she'd bring me to the clinic. She told me not to bring up what actually happened. She probably didn't want the doctor to think I'm insane. Haha. However eventually, she was the one who revealed it to the doctor. Guess what? The doctor gave me tranquilizer and boy was it good.
The truth is, up til today I still can't tell what actually happened that night. I have done some reading on sleep disorders. Like how people tend to experience this when their body is too exhausted yet the their mind is still awake. And perhaps on another view, there is a probability that something was playing around with me.
These questions will continue to be lingering in my head; Was I even asleep? Was I awake? Was I half conscious? Was I hallucinating? Wallahu'alam.
